SKIING IN WILMOT MOUNTAIN // A MIDWEST SKI ESCAPE

Fun fact! I was in a ski club in High School! Yep... although, somehow, when I met my husband (he's not a skier... not yet at least), I stopped going as often. I miss it so much. I also hate the idea that us Midwesternites have to sit cooped up indoors during the cold season. If you know me, you know I'm a mama on the go! So... one of the best, and most fun things to do as a whole family is a day of skiing at Wilmot Mountain!

Located in Kenosha County, Wisc., Wilmot Mountain is conveniently located halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee and recently debuted more than $13 million in capital improvements during the 2016-2017 ski season providing a completely transformed experience. Yep!!! You heard me right. I used to go to Wilmot almost every night and all weekend long during High School. They definitely did a major upgrade from the ski resort I remember.

With nearly 120 skiable acres, 23 trails, seven lifts, two surface conveyor lifts and progression terrain parks with a double, high-speed rope tow, there is enough terrain to challenge beginners to experts, day or night. For those who are not up for skiing or snowboarding, there is plenty of fun waiting just down the road at the tubing area with 22 lanes and two surface conveyor lifts to take guests back to the top. Amazing... right?!

First things on the agenda. We got ourselves fitted for our boots, gear and lift tickets attached. Ready to conquer those bunny hills. At least for this crew at the beginning. I got hubby and kiddos an hour one-on-one lesson to get their ski legs ready. We actually went last year and did the same thing. It was the perfect way to get them comfortable for the slopes. As much as I'm an ok skier, I'm a terrible teacher, so I definitely wanted a professional to do the job.

Pooped little skiers!

Overall we had a fabulous day and plan on returning this weekend. As long as the weather allows we plan on heading over as much as possible and I urge you to do the same!
